2012 Olympics

 

History The last time Britain hosted the Olympics was back in 1908. Great Britain managed to win a total of 146 medals, 56 Gold, 51 Silver and 29 Bronze.

 

Olympic torch the torch was officially lit in Olympia, Greece in August 2008. The 2012 committee leaders want the torch to be within 30 minutes of every living individual as it takes its route in Great Britain in 2012. More details to follow - come and stay when it is due near us!

Locality we are located about 80 miles North of Lower Lea Valley, East London, 1 ½ hours by car (1 hour & 40 minutes by train). * London-Stanstead International Airport is only 1 hour along the M11, A14 and A11 to Home Hall.

* Broxbourne, Hertfordshire – the White Water Canoe Centre for the Slalom, nearest tube is Epping. 88 miles by car (1hour & 55mins)

* Hadleigh Farm, Essex – the Mountain Bike Venue, 99 miles away and 2 ¼ hrs by car; nearest train is Leigh on Sea.

* Our village of Great Hockham, Norfolk, is surrounded by beautiful countryside and peaceful woodlands and only 1 hour from the sea.

 

transport take the underground train to Liverpool Street Railway Station, London, to Diss Railway Station, then taxi (or collection) to Home Hall, Great Hockham, Norfolk.

~Bed, Breakfast & Evening Meal for £140 for two and £75 for one

~Bed, Breakfast, Evening Meal and Excursions:

Tuesdays - Oxburgh Hall and Gooderstone Water Gardens; or

Thursdays - Sandringham (the Queen’s Summer residence) and the Norfolk Lavender, Heacham for £170 for two and £105 for one person.

Entrance fees are extra at about £7.50 to £10 (2009 prices).
