I heard the first Housemartin, or Swallow, on Good Friday! I couldn't see it as it was cloudy. This weekend, blue skies, much warmer, more Housemartins are circling and crying excitedly. At last, Spring is really here! I even saw Bluebells coming through in the woods!
Our new 'Red Bed' is looking stunning! The red pansies and polyanthus are looking very pretty. The red clematis had buds on it, as it has begun to scramble over the old chimney pots - still not sure if they are in the right place! The red tulips are breaking through the sun baked ground.
Seeds are planted and are growing very well. Sweet corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, courgettes and peppers are now in the coldframe and getting fairly tall. The leaves are showing of the early potatoes, reminds me I must earth them up! There is no sign of the carrots and parsnips, but the lettuces are in straight regimented rows, and looking stunning!
